A fake version of WhatsApp called “Update WhatsApp Messenger” was added to the Google Play Store, which has been downloaded over a million times.
It’s unknown if the application had malicious intent, but so far users have only noticed that the fake version contains adverts.
The app has now been removed from the Google Play Store, but customers should be advised to uninstall the application if they suspect they have the fake version.
To find the steps on how to uninstall the app, open the Simulator view, and search for the scenario called How to remove an app.
