Samsung 2021 Unpacked event announcements

After much speculation, Samsung unveiled three new 5G mobile devices in its January 2021 Unpacked event. These devices include:

The cameras across the Galaxy s21 series all include the following features: document scanning, advanced night mode, 8K video recording, multi device recording, dual screen recording, and AI super resolution zoom. For more detail on these new features, see below.

  • AI Super resolution zoom: experience significantly less blurring when zooming in on a video or photograph
  • Multi device recording: Record sound from Ear Buds whilst recording a video
  • 8K video: take cinema quality videos, capturing an even wider range of detail
  • Dual screen recording: use the Vlogger view feature to record using the front and back camera at the same time
  • Document scanning: use the camera to scan hard copies of paper documents into a crisp clean digital format, that even removes paper wrinkles
  • Advanced night mode: taking even brighter images in darker or low light locations, with enhanced details and less noise

Storage and accessibility…

  • Galaxy S21 5G Ultra Storage: 128GB, 256GB and 512GB
  • Galaxy S21+ and S21 5G Storage: 128GB and 256GB

The Ultra model of the S21 series features compatibility with the Samsung S Pen, meaning users will also be able to write handwritten notes on the device, or use the pen as a stylus.

All devices will also feature Eye Comfort Shield technology. The shield automatically adjusts the amount of blue light it emits depending on the content you are viewing.

Connectivity and speed…

All three devices feature 5G compatibility, however the Ultra model also includes Wi-Fi 6E compatibility. This will be the worlds first Wi-Fi 6E device. On top of this, all three of the devices feature the following:

  • clearer viewing of motion picture, such as games, with less blur
  • Connect 4Sure technology promises video calls without disconnection, that are able to switch between Wi-Fi and cellular data
  • seamless connectivity between windows PC’s and laptops and your phone
  • use the Motion Mirror feature to mirror a video on your device onto a television screen, with a smaller screen of yourself also featuring alongside the video

Accessories…

During the event, Samsung also announced the launch of a the following accessories and features:

  • dual wireless charging pad for Samsung smart watches, mobile phones and wireless headphones
  • Galaxy Buds Pro, the improved generation of wireless earphones from the Samsung Galaxy Buds line, including key features such as improved noise cancellation, water resistance, 8 hours of playback time and more
  • wireless SmartTag with GPS tracking, that can be attached to keys, pets or anything you’d like
