WhatsApp will stop running on smartphones that support Android versions 4.0.4 or older from 1st November 2021.
WhatsApp has advised that users need to run Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) or later version to continue using the app. Although users may still get the app to work, it might likely not function as intended and they won’t receive important security updates.
WhatsApp has advised users to switch to supported devices or back up their chat history.
Android users who are on Android 4.1 will be able to use WhatsApp, it should be noted that Google pushed its last-ever Play Services update to the OS during the month of August. Some apps will continue to work but will face problems and major security risks.
