The Android 9 Pie update is now available for download on all Google Pixel mobile devices.
The Android update includes these new features:
Digital Wellbeing
- App dashboard: users will be able to track how much time is spent in apps, looking at notifications etc and then help create any restrictions to help keep users away from their devices
- Do Not Disturb: both sounds and visual interruptions will be deactivated when your device is in Do Not Disturb mode. However, you can select which notifications come through to your home and lock screen so you don’t miss anything urgent
- Wind Down mode: your device will also switch to Greyscale when a specific bedtime has been set
- App time limits: users will be able to set timers for specific apps to control the amount of time spent on them
Predicted actions function
- Android 9 Pie will suggest apps to its user based on the habits that it is tracking. For example, if you call an Uber every day, it will prompt you to do it
Easily editable screenshots
- Screenshots will be editable after being taken
Adaptive Brightness and Adaptive Battery
- Brightness and battery settings will learn how you use your device and how heavily you use your device, and pre-emptively adapt battery and light
Smarter app search
- When searching for an app, instead of just opening the app itself, your device will also search for things you can do inside the app
At-a-Glance on Always-on-Display
- You can now edit your Lock Screen and Always-on Display settings to show apps like calendar events and weather
