Android applications crashing on Galaxy devices

Multiple users have reported that they are experiencing apps such as Tumblr, Google search, Waze, TikTok and more unexpectedly crashing.

This was caused by a Google Webview issue, and the issue has now been resolved in a recent update of Android System Webview and Chrome, 89.0.4389.105 version. To update these apps to the latest version follow the steps below and then restart your device.

For Android

Please note: if Android System Webview Beta has also been installed, you will need to manually uninstall updates for this app first before you install the latest version of Android System Webview. You can do this by following this pathway on your device: Navigate to Settings> Tap Apps> search for Webview> Tap Android System Webview Beta> Tap on the menu icon in the top right hand corner> Tap Uninstall updates.

1. Navigate to the device Settings.
2. Tap Apps.
3. Using the search bar at the top of the screen, search for Android System Webview then tap on it to open. If you do not see that app, tap on the menu icon in the top right hand corner, then tap show system apps. Following that, you should then be able to search for and see Android System Webview in the list.
4. Tap App details in store.
5. Tap Update.

For Google Chrome
1. Navigate to Settings.
2. Tap Apps.
3. Tap Chrome.
4. Tap App details in store.
5. Tap Update.

Please note: if the Update menu is not available, tap the Enable button to update instead.
