Samsung announced the release of the Samsung Galaxy Note8 at their unpacked event on the 23rd August.
Some of the new features will include:
Display
- The Note8 will have a 6.3-inch infinity display, which will use an 18.5:9 ratio
- Quad HD+ Super AMOLED screen
Camera
- The Note8 comes with 2 cameras – a 12 megapixel wide angle lens and a 12 megapixel telephoto lens, meaning you can achieve 2x optical zoom
- Dual pixel sensor, means improved quality of low light photos
- Optical Image Stabilisation in both cameras
- Live Focus mode – has been improved to incorporate the dual cameras – can be used alter the depth of field in real time when taking photos. This is also able to be altered after a photo has been taken and saved
S Pen
- It now has a finer tip with improved pressure sensitivity
- Translate entire sentences by highlighting them – this also works with currency conversions
- Now able to handwrite text messages and create “Live Messages” that are able to be sent to anybody regardless of the receiving phone’s OS
- Screen off mode – you can now pin to-do lists to the always on display and edit them without needing to unlock your device
Bixby
- The Note8 will support Bixby
- New Quick Commands – set up spoken phrases such as “Good Night” and the Note 8 will execute a series of tasks for you i.e. “good Night” your device will; set an alarm, turn on Do Not Disturb, and turn the screen brightness down
Colour
- Available in 4 colours globally – Midnight Black, Maple Gold, Orchid Grey and Deep Sea Blue
- Midnight Black and Maple Gold are the only colours available in the UK
