iOS 13 was announced at the WWDC 2019 on 3rd June.
Some of the new features include:
- Dark Mode
Dark Mode adds a new dark colour scheme that works system wide across all of the native apps.
- Photo browsing
The photo gallery will now highlight the best image and hide the clutter or similar photos behind it. They are now more intelligently organised making it easier to browse.
- Photo editing
New tools have been introduced to photo editing. Swipe to add effects and filters and adjust more portrait mode settings such as lighting directly from the camera app.
- Easy sign in
Apple is introducing a new, fast and private way of signing into different apps and websites, similar to using Apple Pay online.
- New Apple Maps
Apple Maps will offer broader road coverage, better pedestrian data, more precise addresses, and a more detailed land cover.
- Reminders
Reminders will have a new look and offer more intelligent ways to create and edit reminders.
- Messages
Messages can automatically share a user’s name and photo (or Memoji/Animoji) to easily identify people in a thread.
Memoji are added into sticker packs built into the iOS keyboard.
Memoji also features different hairstyles, headwear, makeup, piercings, and accessories.
- Siri
Siri will have a new, more natural voice and Siri Shortcuts will allow suggested automation’s that provide personalised routines for things such as going to the gym.
- CarPlay
CarPlay has a brand new dashboard to view music, maps and more in a single view.
- Notes
Notes have a new gallery view which includes new search tools and checklist options, as well as better shared folders.
- QuickPath
QuickPath makes typing with one hand easier by allowing you to continuously swipe through letters of a word on your keyboard.
- Text Editing
Editing text is now faster and easier, making scrolling through documents, moving the cursor and choosing text faster and more accurate.

Release date:
iOS 13 has been released as a beta version for developers now. The public beta release will be later in the month, and the full version will begin to roll out to devices in the autumn.
